The Qatar Handball Association announced the training program of Qatar handball team in preparation for the Asian qualifications for the 2020 Olympic Games. The event will be held in Doha from October 17 to 27, 2019. The training program will begin on July 27, then the Qatari national team will hold a training camp in Spain from 9 to 19 September before returning to Doha to complete their program.

The draw for the men's Asian qualifiers for the 2020 Olympic Games put the Qatari team in Group A along with the teams of Saudi Arabia, India, and Hong Kong, while the Group B included Bahrain, South Korea, Iran, and Kuwait. The first-place winners qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, while the runners-up play a playoff. It will be the second time in a row that Qatar has hosted the men's Asian handball qualifiers for the Olympic Games. In 2015, Qatar hosted the 2016 Rio Olympics qualifiers, where the Qatar handball team qualified for the Olympics for the first time in the history of Qatari handball.
