As part of the efforts led by Qatar’s healthcare authorities to secure the country’s blood supply, Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has organized a blood donation campaign in association with Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Blood Donor Center.

The campaign comes as part of QIB’s commitment to support the efforts led by the country in its fight against the spread of the COVID-19 virus. QIB urged all their employees to visit HMC’s Blood Center to donate and enrich the blood bank’s supply, to ensure that Qatar does not face any shortages in the near future.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Bassel Gamal, QIB’s Group CEO, said: “At QIB, we have always made it a priority to commit to initiatives that benefit the Qatari society, such as blood donations. We create campaigns, whether its internally amongst our employees, or externally for the wider community, to engage and encourage individuals to take the necessary steps that will enhance the overall well-being of our people.” He added: “As the country fights the spread of the COVID-19 virus, healthcare authorities have requested that citizens and residents donate blood to help the cause. We wanted to find a way to contribute, and therefore raised awareness of the need amongst our employees. We are very proud of their generous response. Donating blood is a simple, noble act, that plays a big role in saving lives.”

The campaign showcases the Bank’s continued commitment to engage with the community and strengthen its involvement in initiatives that benefit the Qatari society.
