The 22nd edition of the Muscat International Book Fair launched Wednesday at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in the presence of senior Omani officials and a group of Omani and Arab diplomats, authors, intellectuals and media personalities.

The fair brings together 750 publishing houses from 28 countries, including Qatar, which is represented by the Ministry of Culture and Sports. The ministry is keen on taking part in the fair every year since its inception, with the Qatari participation serving as an opportunity for Arab cultural exchange, deepening ties between Arab innovators, and helping in fielding vision and solutions for the different intellectual issues at the Arab level. Qatar's pavilion includes the publications of the Ministry of Culture and Sports in the fields of literature, thought and heritage as well as translated works.

The fair stretches over 12,114 square meters and includes 1,200 pavilions, compared to 8550 square meters and 950 pavilions in last year's edition.
