Qatar signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC) on hosting of the organisation’s seventh conference on December 8 and 9. The agreement was signed on Wednesday.

Speaker of the Shura Council HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al Mahmoud met with the Chairman of GOPAC Dr Fadli Zon and his accompanying delegation. The meeting reviewed the functions of the organisation and its global role in fighting corruption. Following the meeting, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Qatar’s hosting of the seventh conference was signed. The organisation includes parliamentarians from 106 countries and 55 national branches around the world. The MoU was signed for the Shura Council by Shura Council Speaker HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al Mahmoud and for GOPAC by its Chairman Dr Fadli Zon.

Doha’s hosting of this conference comes in recognition of the role of the State of Qatar in combating corruption and in support of the great efforts of the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani in the fight against corruption and the establishment of transparency and good governance.
