After the successful launch of opening a Misk and Saving account through the Mobile App, Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) is the first Bank in Qatar to release Current Account Digital Onboarding. It allows prospective customers the opportunity to open a new current account and transfer their salary to QIB easily through its award-winning Mobile App.

This new development allows prospective customers to open a current account from anywhere, at any time, in a fast, simple and convenient manner. Interested customers just need to download the QIB Mobile App and use QIB's integrated digital identification technology to scan required documents (Qatari ID and passport in the case of expatriates), take a selfie and fill in a couple of remaining personal questions. New customers will be asked to upload their salary certificates in order to link their newly opened account with their salaries.

In order to facilitate a seamless experience, the Bank has also integrated a “Live Chat” feature as part of the onboarding process. This allows customers to directly get in touch with a QIB customer service representative if they have any queries or need further support at any time during the onboarding process. Customers that choose to transfer their salaries to QIB by using the fast and easy Mobile App feature will have access to a range of products and services that will address all of their financial and banking needs.

There are several benefits to having a QIB current account, including receiving a free Debit Card delivered to your home or at work, getting a free revolve credit card for the first year, a free cheque book, the ability to apply for finance or takaful plans at a competitive rate, and receive Absher reward points that can be redeemed in over 900 airlines, 450,000 hotels, or 150,000 car rental agencies. For the first credit salary, QIB is rewarding every QR 100 in a customer’s salary with 10 Absher reward points. Additionally, customers will get free airport lounge access, global discounts, purchase protection, extended warranty, and other features upon using their credit card.

This initiative comes as part of QIB's existing digital onboarding process that allows prospective customers to start a relationship with the Bank by opening any type of account through the QIB Mobile App. The QIB Mobile App has undergone immense transformations and updates over the years, to keep up with the hyper-connected, online world. The updated app makes it easier than ever to bank on the go, 24/7, as it was developed with customers’ daily banking requirements in mind.
