RasGas Company Limited (RasGas), organised its first major annual blood donation drive for 2013 on Monday and Tuesday. As part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme and its ongoing commitment to supporting the local community, the RasGas Public Affairs Department and the RasGas Medical Centre hosted the annual Blood Donation drive in association with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).

The blood donation drive was held both at the Doha headquarters and at Ras Laffan Industrial City to reach out to all RasGas employees. The blood donated by RasGas employees will be used for emergency hospital procedures, such as transfusions for cardiac patients or premature babies, as well as in the treatment of long-term illnesses like sickle-cell cancer.

The RasGas bi-annual blood donation drive primarily raises awareness on the role blood donation plays in helping save lives and sharing the gift of life. Blood donation is a key element of the company’s CSR programme and it promotes the core value of individual volunteering for the benefit of the local community.

The HMC blood donation vehicle along with paramedical staff was available at the RasGas Headquarters in West Bay on Monday, 29th April and at the RasGas Medical Centre building in Ras Laffan on Tuesday, 30th April. Approximately 400 RasGas employees have donated blood since 2009 and RasGas has been maintaining a long-term partnership with the HMC’s Blood Donors’ Unit all these years.
