The world’s fastest bowler, Pakistan’s Shoaib Akhtar & Sri Lankan International left-arm Seam Bowler, Nuwan Zoysa will face off in a local Cricket Tape Ball Tournament being organized by the Qatar Sports Club and QSports.

16 teams took part part in the Doha 6’s Cricket Challenge that started on 14th March 2014 at the Qatar Sports Club grass fields. The 2 finalist teams of the tournament – Qalco (Qatar Lubricants Company) and Tusker will get a chance to play alongside top international cricketers in the main stadium at the Qatar Sports Club on 11th April 2014 in what is expected to be a thriller and the first 6-a-side cricket tournament being organized on this scale in Qatar.

Shoaib Akhtar and Nuwan Zoysa [qatarisbooming.com].jpgThe Rawalpindi Express, Shoaib Akhtar who has played in 163 ODI’s and claimed 247 wickets during his international career, in his video message said, “I am delighted to be a part of this exciting event and look forward to meeting the cricket fans in Qatar.” Nuwan Zoysa has featured In 30 Tests and 95 ODI’s and has 108 ODI wickets to his credit. QSports, the sports management company, managing the tournament, reports huge interest in the tournament as over 16 teams have played exciting cricket during the past 3 weeks. Over 1,300 people have signed up to witness the final on 11th April 2014 on the event’s facebook page. “We are expecting record crowds during the final game as cricket fans are very excited to see top cricketers play in Qatar,” says Adil Ahmed of QSports.

The 16 teams participating in the Doha 6’s Cricket Challenge include -  Hassan VI-ers, Stallions, Malinga Boys, Consolidated Gulf Company, Pakistan Cricket Academy, KCC (KIA Cricket club), Qalco (Qatar Lubricant Company), United Challengers, Royal Tigers, AALCO Strikers, AALCO Tigers, Challenger Cricket Club (CCC), Tusker, IrinaTech, Hadico, Stenden University Qatar. Both the cricketers are expected to be in Qatar on 9th April and are likely to attend a series of community events including holding an official press conference, a visit to the Pakistan Education Center and a dinner hosted by the local community in Qatar.

We have opened our facilities to the cricketing community in Qatar and partnered with QSports to deliver a top notch event” Commented Tariq Mahmoud manager of spectator services at the Qatar Sports Club. This is the first time Shoaib Akhtar also known as the Rawalpindi Express & Zoysa are coming to Qatar and tickets are QR 10/- each for the 11th April final and can be purchased from the Qatar Sports Club, Safari Mall, Family Food Center, Zaoq Restaurant or online at www.q-tickets.com website which entitles the ticket holder to watch the Qatar Sports Club vs Lekhwiya football game and the cricket match, which is to be held right after the football match.
