The exhibition gives an opportunity to would-be brides and grooms to select luxury wedding decorations and ideal honeymoon destinations in order to make their weddings a more memorable one.

Speaking on the occasion, al Sulaiti said IWED has been successful in promoting Qatar and opening up its market, for the local, regional and international players in the wedding industry.

"IWED is actually an event in Qatar with a distinct touch of women.

I would love to see more woman entrepreneurs participating in this show.

I encourage the women of Qatar and from the region to lead this market," al Sulaiti said.

Besides the lavish decorations, the highlight of the show is an interesting array of wedding gowns and dresses catering to diverse interests and personalities of brides.

Sophisticated abayas, colourful kaftans, traditional white wedding gowns and designer wedding dresses are adding glitz to the show.

Among the most-talked about collection at IWED 2011 are the bridal wears by Vera Wang.

The A-list designer is among the Hollywood's favourite fashion guru.

Halle Berry, Renee Zellweger and Kim Kardashian are just among some of the star designers whose creations hog the limelight at different events.

"Vera Wang is famous for using simple materials that are elegant and timeless.

Since we opened our store at The Pearl, the only one in the Middle East, we have been very successful in this market.

The Vera Wang collection includes other dresses apart from bridal wears.

Her collection ranges from QR10,000 to QR100,000 as she caters to various ranges of customer brackets," said Vera Wang Qatar's owner Maryah al Dafa.

Aside from the display of wedding dresses, IWED 2011 also features an interesting fashion show programme.

"If you are looking for the latest wedding fashions and to be entertained at the same time, the IWED fashion shows do just that.

The popular catwalk show featuring 2011 wedding fashion trends and dazzling choreography takes place daily to inspire, captivate and leave you wanting for more," said Karim Zarka, CEO of IWED organiser Qatar Expo Event Management.
