Women Together Association gave its 2014 award to Chairperson of Qatar Museums Authority Board of Trustees HE Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, Board Chairperson for her cultural work and support for the promotion of art worldwide. The award was handed over to HE Sheikha Alia Ahmed bint Saif al-Thani, the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations on behalf of HE Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani in a celebration held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. 

HE Sheikha Alya expressed the gratitude and appreciation of HE Sheikha Al-Mayassa to the Association's committee for granting her this year's award, stressing in speech she gave after receiving the award that HE Sheikha Al-Mayassa gave an example on how the Arab women can assume leading positions and contribute considerably in the progress of their countries. Sheikha Alya added that Sheikha Al-Mayassa is a prominent figure encouraging arts and culture in Qatar and also Islamic arts worldwide. 

She also pointed out to her role in enhancing the capacities of youths and women to become community leaders, referring in this regard to her chairpersonship of Reach Out to Asia (ROTA). Sheikha Alya drew the attention to her role as a member of the World Heritage Committee through which she sought to develop and promote museums, arts and heritage according to international standards. Women Together is an international foundation established in 1996 in partnership with the United Nations.
