World no.1 Caroline Wozniacki reached the semi-finals of the 2011 Qatar Ladies Open with a powerful display against Italy’s Flavia Pennetta in the quarter-finals, winning the match in straight sets 6-2 6-0.

The 20-year-old Dane survived an early scare after she found herself 0-2 down in the first set, to win 12 consecutive games and reach the semi-finals of Qatar Ladies Open for the first time.

Wozniacki is looking for her 14th WTA title and second this year after winning Dubai Tennis Championships last Sunday. She will now face France’s Marion Bartoli in the semi-finals on Friday.

In another quarterfinals, French star Marion Bartoli cruised her way after an impressive straight sets victory 6-2 6-2 over China’s Peng Shuai.

It’s the first ever semi-finals appearance for Bartoli in Doha. Her best ever result in her previous three appearances was reaching the quarter-finals in the 2005 edition before losing to eventual champion Russia’s Maria Sharapova.

Russian Superstar Vera Zvonareva made it to semifinals after a hard-fought victory over Daniala Hantuchova 7-5 6-7 7-5.
